The Concrete Society of Southern Africa’s WC Branch hosted a fantastic afternoon of networking, laughter, and friendly competition at the Mowbray Bowls Club on Thursday, 14 May 2026.
With approximately 35 attendees joining in the fun, the atmosphere was filled with great team spirit, lively banter, and plenty of memorable moments both on and off the greens. To top it all off, Cape Town spoiled us with a beautiful sunny winter’s afternoon, creating the perfect setting for the event.
A very special thank you goes to our generous sponsors who helped make the event such a success:
- Shotcrete Africa – The “Cement Mixer” Refreshment/Main Sponsor
- Xypex – The “Ultimate Strength Award” Winner Sponsor
- Afrimat – The “Precision Placement Challenge” Closest to the Jack Sponsor
- Spraylock – The “Cracked Slab Award” Wooden Spoon Player Sponsor
Congratulations to “The One and Only Team” made up of Johan van Wyk from Penetron and Alizwa Ntinganti from UCT, who bowled their way to victory and claimed the top spot of the day!
Well done also to Nicholas Jarratt, who won The Precision Placement Challenge for the closest bowl to the jack, and to Sheila Bisika, who received the highly sought-after (and much laughed about!) Cracked Slab Award for the wooden spoon player.
The WC Branch would like to thank everyone who attended and contributed to making the afternoon such an enjoyable and relaxed event. It was wonderful to see members, sponsors, colleagues, and friends connecting outside of the usual technical environment and simply enjoying each other’s company.
We are already looking forward to the next one!
