When quantity surveyors price a job, nine times out of ten they go with the cheapest concrete quote they can get. Then, once the project kicks off and the project manager realises the formwork turnaround isn’t meeting expectations, the ready-mix supplier often gets blamed for “poor-quality” concrete.
But is it really a concrete problem? Or should contractors and engineers be a bit more mindful when pricing a job that has tight timelines?
