CONCRETEClass1.3 – Aggregates in concrete – an appreciation of their role

10 April @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Aggregates occupy the largest volume in typical concrete mixes. Despite this, they are often viewed as inert filler materials, provided for bulk and to reduce the cost of concrete. However, this view needs to change, so as to understand aggregates as an integral part of concrete, and which have profound effects on plastic and hardened concrete properties. This lecture will explore the basics of aggregates and provide an insight into their influential role in concrete.

Requirements for benefitting from this class:
– Basic knowledge of the constituents of concrete
– Basic mathematics, no more than Matric Level
