SUMMARY:CONCRETEFiX 6.2: SANS 51992-1-1 in Practice: Key Changes from SANS 10100
DESCRIPTION:By Dr Kim Timm\, Stellenbosch University \nSouth Africa’s transition from SANS 10100 to SANS 51992-1-1 marks a move toward alignment with international best practice in reinforced concrete design. This presentation briefly covers the rationale for the change and the implementation timeline\, before focusing on what it means in practice for designers. The emphasis is on the key differences between SANS 10100 and SANS 51992-1-1.\nThe session highlights revisions to familiar design procedures and detailing requirements that will affect everyday design work. It also points to new or significantly expanded provisions in SANS 51992-1-1\, including those related to materials\, serviceability\, and the more explicit treatment of durability and exposure classes.\nThe aim is to give practicing engineers a clear view of what has changed\, where to find it in the code\, and how it will affect the design of concrete structures in South Africa going forward. \n  \nDATE: Thursday\, 23 April 2026\nvia Microsoft Teams @ 15:00\nAttendance Free \nECSA CPD accreditation applied for\nOnly CSSA Members qualify to receive ECSA CPD points.
