DESCRIPTION:By Dr Kim Timm\, Stellenbosch University \nSouth Africa’s transition from SANS 10100 to SANS 51992-1-1 marks a move toward alignment with international best practice in reinforced concrete design. This presentation briefly covers the rationale for the change and the implementation timeline\, before focusing on what it means in practice for designers. The emphasis is on the key differences between SANS 10100 and SANS 51992-1-1.\nThe session highlights revisions to familiar design procedures and detailing requirements that will affect everyday design work.
