SUMMARY:CONCRETEClass 1.8 - The Fundamentals of Concrete Rheology for the Concrete Practitioner
DESCRIPTION:A very simple introduction to Concrete Rheology explaining concrete as a Bingham material. Common tests done on fresh concrete such as the slump test are often described as ‘single-point’ tests. The lecture will discuss the potential advantages of ‘two-point’ testing using a concrete rheometer over the ‘single-point’ tests commonly done on fresh concrete. \nRequirements for attending this class:\n– Basic knowledge of the constituents of concrete\n– Basic mathematics\, no more than Matric Level \nPresenter: John Roxburgh\nJohn Roxburgh has a BSc Building Science degree and is a member of the institute of concrete technology in London. In 2009 he joined the Cement and Concrete Institute as a lecturer in the School of Concrete Technology. He remained in this role until the demise of Cement and Concrete SA in 2024.
